Passata & Pasta Day Barkly Square – 16th March 2024
The sun came out and we had a most enjoyable day. Held in conjunction with the City of Ballarat Harmony Festival, a wonderful day was had by all in attendance. While being entertained by some classic italian tunes, we watched Donato at work, with the help of Spencer, exhibiting the art of making fresh pasta, a culinary demonstration that was followed by the central event of the day, making of tomato passata.
The delicious lunch, served with salad and bread, was a great success. The bread, required to make “Scarpetta” was kindly donated by the 1816 Bakehouse, we thank them most sincerely for their generosity. Michaela Settle MP shared some stories about her time studying and living in Italy and painted a picture for us of ‘la dolce vita’. Dino Cudia, our oldest Life Member, couldn’t resist the opportunity to have his photo taken with Michaela. A big thank you to our Committee for all of their hard work in preparing for the day and on the day. Also to Dolly Spurgo for her assistance.
